Animal Cruelty Investigation of Mary Grettenberger

The allegations against Mary Grettenberger are completely unfounded and she is innocent of animal cruelty. If guilty of anything, she is guilty of loving and caring too much for the dogs that she rescues before they are killed by the Hillsborough County Animal Services shelter. These allegations appear to be the result of a careless, publicity driven and overzealous investigation, with the sole objective of harassing my client. Mary Grettenberger is a member of our community who minds her own business, has never committed a crime in her life, and who actually is on the list of approved dog rescuers by the same agency which is conducting this investigation – Hillsborough County Animal Services. In fact, after her dogs were essentially stolen from her this morning by Hillsborough County Animal Services, Mary received an offer this evening from a county animal services employee to rescue another dog. We are confident that, after a proper investigation is completed, the state attorney’s office will agree with us that dogs barking loudly, a smelly house and a few missing rabies vaccination papers do not make Mary Grettenberger guilty of the crime of animal cruelty.
